“Statement by the NRA (National Rifle Association) 4/17/2007
The National Rifle Association joins the entire country in expressing our deepest condolences to the families of Virginia Tech University and everyone else affected by this horrible tragedy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families.
We will not have further comment until all the facts are known…..”
…….When it would be better to simply remain silent, and living up to its reputation for being beyond shame, the statement by the NRA clearly shows that they do not understand, nor do they appreciate, the significance of yet another school massacre, let alone any of the relevant arguments for gun control.
Likely “when all the facts are known” the NRA will peddle its own spin in a “this-had-nothing-to-do-with-guns” press release. Anything to avoid taking a piece out of the profits of the corporations that manufacture and sell deadly guns.
Americans should have NO right to bear arms (guns). Nobody should. Police and army are there to protect and defend citizens in a democracy. Having a right to bear arms is tantamount to taking the law into your own hands.
It’s highly unlikely that someone would be able to kill 32 people in a university with a hammer. Having a gun makes it just too easy.
